Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was named as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. She served on an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy reports, including arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
